I am starting to paint this Union Civil War Artillery Set that was made by Imex. It is 54mm in scale and made out of plastic.

I'll try to make my instructions easy to follow, but also as specific as possible. Where appropriate, I'll include pictures that illustrate the steps. I will be going step by step. Here are 3 Civil War figures and 1 Cannon.

Here are some of the tools that I use before I start painting. I cut off any extra plastic and them will use different types of files to make the figures smooth.

Get a nice set of brushes. They are worth the price. Don't get some cheap brushes. You can find them in good hobby store. Always keep them clean, so they will last longer.

Here are some of the paints that I use. I use Floquil Military Colors, Polly Scale Model & Hobby Colors, Humbrol Super Enamels and sometimes Pactra Acrylic Enamels. I use Floquil Primer to prime my figures. Before I paint I will wash the figures in water and detergent. I will leave them in this mixture for a few hours, sometimes overnight.
